Academics at RYCI

Royal York Collegiate had a solid reputation as a highly academic high school. Just for fun, here's a sample of some of the tests some of us endured. And feel free to help yourself to a Scholarship bar.

Arts at RYCI

The former RYCI building now houses the Etobicoke School of the Arts. This is perhaps fitting since there was no shortage of artist talent among Royal Yorkers. Here are few examples of program covers for dramatic productions, c. 1966-1971. If you have exact dates for these covers please let me know. The cover designers were as follows: The Desperate Hours, c. 1966-67--Mary Armstrong; Oklahoma, c. 1968--Judy Lee: The Boyfriend, c. 1969--Judi Lee; My Sister Eileen, c. 1970--Robert Capel. As I recall the theatrical productions were of a very high quality (at least in my opinion).

Note to cover designers: anyone who does not want their artwork displayed here please let me know and I will remove it. Thanks.

I recently found this instructions sheet-received one every year and i am sure they are a manual for high school students now but this is in mint condition except for my University scribbles on it when I used it as a file folder.

Welcome--Let's Preserve and Share Our Collective History of RYCI

This blog has been set up to gather memories, comments, documents, photos, memorabilia items, etc., related to the 'community' of Royal York Collegiate Institute, formerly at 675 Royal York Road, Etobicoke, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Since RYCI (1953-1982) no longer exists as a high school it is hoped that this blog will serve as a digital archive or repository of RYCI and the memories of its community members--former students, teachers, administrators, friends, and their families. It is an experiment of sorts. We'll see what happens. If you wish to be added as an administrator (contributor) please email me at: cagibson_2000@yahoo.com and I will add your name. Anyone with a Google email account can add comments.
